Amniotic Band Constriction

Dr. Gary Myers alerted me to his recent ten-month-old patient with amniotic band constriction resulting in amputation and other nasty consequences. I had heard about this condition (one of 12,000 known diseases) a few years ago and was totally clueless of its existence. This phenomenon occurs in 1 in 1200 live births. People say it is very rare, unless it happens in your family.

We know that the umbilical cord can wrap in utero causing issues, but fascia banding may be more damaging. This condition is highly associated with clubfoot, a successful CFT condition.

I am just wondering if somewhere during the pregnancy, CFT may be helpful/preventative for this condition instead of amniotic band release surgery. I will add that to the CFT research list.
